Contoh kalimat present tense aktif :

1.      Kalimat Simple Present Tense aktif

a.       Ariana wants those books.

b.      They take picture sometimes.

c.       Tommy loves Emma much.

d.      Mia brings a beautiful bag and wears nice dress.

2.      Kalimat simple present tense pasif

a.       Those books are wanted by Ariana.

b.      Picture is taken by them sometimes.

c.       Emma is loved by tommy much.

d.      A beautiful bag and wears nice dress are brought by Mia.

Active voice

(kalimat aktif) adalah suatu bentuk kata kerja yang menggambarkan di mana subjek melakukan tindakan yang dinyatakan oleh verba. Dengan demikian dalam active voice subjek bertindak sebagai pelaku aksi. kalimat dimana subject-nya melakukan pekerjaan.

Passive voice

(kalimat pasif) adalah bentuk gramatikal di mana subjek pada kalimat sebagai pelaku aksi, atau bukan yang melakukan suatu tindakan. Dalam passive voice, subjek adalah yang menerima aksi. Rumus passive voice sendiri adalah S+auxiliary verbs+past participle (V-3), namun tergantung bagaimana bentuk tense-nya.

1. Simple present tense -> S+V-1+direct object, maka untuk passive voice-nyaS+auxiliary verbs+past participle (V-3), menggunakan auxiliary verbs be bentuk pertama (is, am, are).

—-> Active Voice -> Keanu feeds the rabbits everyday

—-> Passive voice -> The rabbits are fed by Keanu everyday

2. Simple past tense ->S+V-2+direct object, maka passive voice-nya S+auxiliary verbs+past participle (V-3), menggunakan auxiliary verbs be bentuk kedua (was,were).

—->Active Voice -> Nana wrote the letter last night.

—-> Passive Voice -> The letter was written by Nana.

Jika active voice dalam simple present tense, maka ‘be’ passive voice-nya adalah is, am atau are.

Contoh:

* Active : He meets them everyday.

* Passive : They are met by him everyday.

* Active : She waters this plant every two days.

* Passive : This plant is watered by her every two days.

b. Jika active voice dalam simple past tense, maka ‘be’ passive voice-nya adalah was atau were

Contoh:

* Active : He met them yesterday

* Passive : They were met by him yesterday

* Active : She watered this plant this morning

* Passive : This plant was watered by her this morning
